We’ve made great progress over the past few days. So much so that each day we have tied into our spot at the day’s marina, eaten, pooped the pets and gone to bed. We’ve figured out the Locking thing now and that seems easy as well. What a difference a few days make! We set off from Bayside Marina on the Tenn-Tom today with another trawler, Slow Poke, who had stopped for the night as well on their journey South. We covered 40 miles and 3 locks in 8 hours. We passed up a pretty nice marina, that was recommended, as we still had a few hours of daylight and needed to get closer to our next stop, Columbus Marina in Columbus. MS. The Smithville Marina listing in our Looper’s guide is at Mile 377.0 It has electricity and very nice people who helped us dock and set up steps for us to disembark. I’m not sure where the restrooms, showers and laundry are. They are very pet friendly but I would be too afraid to ask for the courtesy car they advertise. Mike described the office as “colloquial”. Pics to follow in am.
