It’s snowing sideways…

We woke up early and prepared the boat for the coming storm…extra mooring ropes, loose gear stowed, thru-hull fittings closed, freeze-prevention heaters in the engine room, heads and galley. The marina owner had a big four-door pickup truck and gave us a ride… dogs, luggage & all, to the hotel across town. Once unpacked, we realized Lisa’s purse had gone missing in the move ashore. I met a nice Uber driver working his way through college on the trip to and back from the marina. To my relief, the purse including wallet & cell phone among other things, rested near the top of the ramp up from the dock to the marina parking lot. It adhered to the principle of last on, first off of the luggage buggy…only it had a considerable lead on the rest of the cargo. Back at the hotel, we watched as the snow began…a little at first, then eventually it was blowing sideways. This made us wonder how things were going back at the boat. We went online and checked the outdoor cameras and had to laugh…of course it’s snowing there but the cameras make it look like a swarm of crazed white gnats. Relieved to be here now, safe & warm. Lord willing, when the temperatures thaw next week, we’ll be back on the river heading south.
